Theme Thursday=Earth

Planet Earth from Space

On Sunday we were all informed the theme this week is EARTH. Now I don't know about everyone else here in the United States, but I had to get my taxes completed before April 15th. That would have been doable and I would have had more than enough time to dedicate to this week's blog challenge. But a time constraint for me had developed, when one of my daughters asked me to ride with her from Connecticut to Virginia. Because she had to attend the inspection of a house her family is planning to buy. They are moving back to Virginia after her husband's twenty years of service in the Air Force. So I pondered what could I possibly say about earth. I decided to take some pictures of our travels over a minute piece of the earth as we drove from Connecticut to Virginia and back to Connecticut.

Flowering Tree in Maryland at a rest stop.

Washington Monument taken from a moving car in the rain.

As close as we could get to the White House in the car.

Riding home on the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

Rest stop on the Garden State Parkway.

An attempt at trying to make a communications pole to look like a tree in New Jersey.

Driving on the Tappan Zee Bridge.

I just like the exit sign in New York State. Does it remind you of places in some writings?

Still driving and riding on the highway. It took about eleven hours to drive to Virginia, because the traffic was horrible. It took about eight hours to drive back to my house in Connecticut.

Finally back in my town with it's quaint New England Green, red building is the Town Hall.

St John Episcopal Church on the Green

First Congregational Church on the Green

Now I have taken you on a journey of the minute area of the Earth I have traveled in the past few days. We were traveling Monday through Wednesday. The weather in the Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC area was cold and rainy. It was so nice to be back home here in Connecticut were the temperature was warmer and sunny today. For the flower lovers I am ending with a picture of a Camellia that I saw through a window at a rest stop. I wasn't able to get near it to experience it's fragrance.

Lovely pictoral review. Nie take on TT your little piece of Earth travel. All of the photos are interesting and your home town is beautiful. But there was something that hit me viscerally about the Washington Monument pic in the rain. Don't ask me what. I just know that it hit me in the gut.

Great traveling with you, I enjoyed our trip. I do feel like I just went somewhere and it was so nice and comfortable. Gas is still in the car, I am snuggled and these are the best kinds of trips.
Thak you for shaing, it was great.

God bless.

Lovely slice of east coast life. And of the power of home. Looking at the photos, I felt a relief once you were back home in your pretty town!

Love the big earth photo. I live in New England as well but I miss the flowers of the South. I think the big earth photo is really all any of us need to remind us of what is at stake.

Dak Bear,
What an interesting take on TT.
ugh! That ugly communications pole in NJ is identical to the one off the Hutch somewhere in Scarsdale...
Thank you!

Road trip!
But there's no place like home.

I love travelling with you and agree, your home town is sweet. Like something out of a movie and so different to the small towns over here. Loved the pole pretending to be a tree! And I have camelias but they don't have any smell, only found out recently that they're part of the 'tea' family! There, something for nothing!

Thank you for the tour. I always love to see photos of the U.S. since I'm a Canadian. Your own town looks charming.

Thanks for visiting Poetikat's Invisible Keepsakes - I'll be taking part next week for sure!

I know what ya mean. Taxes consumed most of my past week. Glad those are over with this year!

Wow, loved the road trip. It reminded me of my drives through CT, New York and Virginia, Washington, when we were stationed on bases in CT & VA. Is that St. John's in Old Saybrook? We were stationed in New London and would make it into OS frequently to eat at one of our favorite seafood restaurants.

Many Congratulations on your daughter and son-in-law's retirement. We have five years to go...not that I'm counting, or anything.

Liza-that is not Old Saybrook, it is New Milford. Thank you for the congratulations, my son-in-law is Air Force in Mass.

Haven't traveled that route in quite some time( must take loads of pics this trip; hang the time constraints! ). And what's this on the town green? A Stuart M-5 tank?

That is quite the tribute to the tiny part of the earth that you inhabit.

Road trips are fun, well they can be. I'm getting in the mood for one.

You sure can tell New England from those last few pics.

Love your photo journey! I just loved the rainy, from the car, shots...reminds me of the many road trips to DC I've made to see family...in fact I'll be making that same trip next weekend...The "tree" poles are hysterical aren't they!
