Coffee Messiah challenged us with theme Thursday. This week's theme is the kitchen. I don't have pictures of soups, muffins, cookies or cakes. So, I have selected a poem that conveys the importance of the kitchen.
In the Kitchen
Lori L. Moore
Love, was understood, in
the kitchen. Where
bread and cakes and pies
and everyday thoughts filled
the air and senses. Common
Sense was taught, in
the kitchen. More through action,
than words. Grandma’s
ways were revered in the kitchen.
From a touch of this, to a dash
of that, to a “good girl would
never.” Love, was understood,
in the kitchen. Passed down,
one recipe at a time.

Ah yes the kitchen my most favorite place in any house.
That's nice and Thanks for joining in ; )
Cheers!
The kitchen is a very important social room in the house, if it's big enough to seat the whole family around the table :) I like the poem!

Good morning DB,
I stopped by your blog today for the first time (via Theme Thursday).
Love your pics of the grandkids.
I remember my old aluminim saucer sled from the 1960s.
eeek! Time flies!
And I also love your slide show. I've been thinking of doing the same thing with my trip to Egypt.
Will stop by later!
Good evening WT,
Thank you for stopping by Auntie's.
I see you have been retired since Jan 2007. Congrats to you. I hope to retire in 5 or 6 years.
Planning a trip to Egypt? The Nile River is gorgeous. I wish I had spent more time on it.
Re: the Pyramids, I was a tad bit disappointed. Don't know why.
When I do upload my Egypt slide show, I will let you know.
cheers,
auntie chris
Good morning DB,
I feel quite honored to see you are going to keep an eye on my blog.
Guess what!
I will be watching your blog too.
BTW, thanks for the HelloQuizzy tip. I will try out a personality quiz later this morning after my coffee kicks in.
My pre-caffeine personality can be quite disagreeable.
Hi DB,
I finally did it!!!
I uploaded my fav 23 photos onto Flikr. You can view Egypt as it looked in 1984, through the eyes of a much younger Auntie.
The link is on the right side of my blog.
cheers,
auntie
Hey DB,
Thanks for visiting Auntie.
I stayed in Cairo for just a couple of days. No, I didn't go on a cruise on the Nile, but I wish I had. The Nile was beautiful, esp. down south. Egypt back in 1984 had absolutely no American influences (i.e., Dunkin' Donuts; Burger King, etc.) You will probably see that now. It was disappointing to see that in New Delhi in 2007.
While in Egypt, I highly recommend you see Abul Simbel. It's worth the extra time & money.
Good night! BF is downstairs grumbling all by himself.
The kitchen is my favorite place in houses as well!
Isn't it amazing just how much life goes on in that cherished room? With a fresh pot of coffee brewing and good company, I can spend hours there!
The kitchen seems to be the favorite room in a house. Have you noticed, if you are giving a party people will gather in the kitchen. You might try to encourage them to go to another room, but they always drift back to the kitchen.
Could it be that we found nourishment, family and comfort there when we were children.
