Theme Thursday=Shoe

What came to mind are a few nursery rhymes about the lowly shoe. Here they are to take you back to your childhood and enjoy.

Cobbler, Cobbler
Cobbler, cobbler, mend my shoe.
Get it done by half-past two;
Stitch it up and stitch it down,
And then I'll give you half a crown.

1, 2, buckle my shoe.
1, 2, buckle my shoe.
3, 4, shut the door.
5, 6, pick up sticks.
7, 8, lay them straight.
9, 10, a big fat hen.

There Was An Old Woman
There was an old woman
Who lived in a shoe,
She had so many children
She didn’t know what to do.
She gave them some broth
Without any bread.
She whipped them all soundly
And sent them to bed.

Hey, This reminded me of Danny Kaye in Hans C. Andersen. Thanks.

Even though it didn't take me back to my childhood - too, too long ago - it took me back to when my son was little and we had an old book with such rhymes in and I used to read to him from it.

I remember all of them except the first one. You used to read them to us as kids. :)

I love nursery rhymes- interesting that so many are about shoes.

Could be a thesis there...
